Maryland’s official African American history museum was named in honor of Benjamin Banneker, the 18th Century author and scientist, and Frederick Douglass, the 19th Century abolitionist and writer, who both inspired the struggle for freedom and civil rights.
The U.S. Navy’s famous fighter jet acrobatic group flies over every graduation ceremony at the U.S. Naval Academy, and this year it’s on Friday, May 26, 2017. They also have their arrival and air show scheduled during Commissioning Week.

Maryland State House
Constructed in 1772, the capitol is the oldest functioning state house of the United States. Here is where the Treaty of Paris was signed ending the Revolutionary War and where General George Washington submitted his resignation as commander of the Continental Army.

One of the premier music venues of the nation, prominent artists play regularly in Rams Head’s cozy space, where the audience can stand close to the stage and savor every note. There’s an impressive bar and great pub food.
U.S. Naval Academy
Future officers of the United States Navy have been trained at the USNA since 1845. Aside from the beautiful campus, visitors can tour the Naval Academy Museum and the graceful domed chapel, where John Paul Jones, father of the U.S. Navy, is interred.
U.S. Sailboat Show
The largest and oldest of its kind in the world, the U.S. Sailboat Show is a world-renowned showcase for the newest beautiful and exotic boats held every October.
Wednesday Night Races
From April to August, 100 sailboats or more race every Wednesday night in the waters of Annapolis. Fans gather on the shoreline, restaurants, and Spa Creek Bridge to cheer the competitors.
