Last year’s Military Bowl celebrated 10 great years of football in Annapolis. The game has been the Chesapeake region’s highest profile sporting event. The 2018 edition promises to bring another great matchup to Maryland’s beautiful seaside capital.
This bowl game typically gives college football fans a terrific pairing of two great college teams from the American Athletic Conference (AAC) and the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). In 2017, AAC hometown heroes Navy Midshipmen crushed the Virginia Cavaliers 49-7.
Proceeds from the Military Bowl benefit several non-profit organizations that provide much-needed support to members of the U.S. Armed Forces with the USO (United Services Organization) receiving the lion’s share. Born at the beginning of World War II, the USO team has put together programs, services, and live entertainment that benefit American service men and women and their loved ones at home and in foreign countries.
The Military Bowl has amassed about $750,000 in funds for the USO since the sporting event was founded in 2008. The event contributes more than 30,000 free game tickets to American troops and their families.
