From August 22 to September 21, 2019, the Maryland Federation of Art (MFA) will present their annual American Landscapes Exhibit at the Circle Gallery.
The collection will highlight 2D and 3D pieces that depict landscapes from the Americas, the Caribbean, and Hawaii. Artists from the USA, Puerto Rico, Canada, and Mexico are welcome to submit their artwork for this 19th annual competition.
The art selected by American Landscapes dramatically captures coastlines, deserts, farms, mountains, sunsets, and waterfalls. The timeless beauty of unspoiled lands is the common theme of the paintings.
Lovers of landscapes yearn to discover paintings that will transport you to another time and place. There will be a few that are transcendent because the artist has powerfully captured a unique vista with paint and light.
The juror for American Landscapes 2019 is Jack Rasmussen, the Director of the American University Museum at the Katzen Arts Center. He also serves as chair of the Maryland State Arts Council.
Rasmussen earned his MFA in Painting, his MA in Arts Management, and his MA and PhD in Anthropology at American University.
The Maryland Federation of Art
Founded in 1963, the Maryland Federation of Art is a non-profit and volunteer-aided organization that oversees the Circle Gallery, which houses two distinct spaces for exhibition: the Main Gallery and the Holley Gallery. Considered by many to be the finest art venue in Annapolis, City Gallery opened in June 2001 with its own exhibition space.
