Annapolis’ Greek Orthodox Community has celebrated their culture and traditions with their neighbors for many years. Come to Maryland’s beautiful capital on the Chesapeake Bay to attend the Annapolis Greek Festival, an annual event featuring music, dance, food, and wine held from Thursday May 31 to Sunday, June 3, 2018.

Music and Dancing

Accompanied by the entrancing bouzouki and other traditional musical instruments, Greek dances performed by the community’s Children’s and Adult Dance Troupes will provide wonderful entertainment to people of all ages.

Greek Cuisine

The aroma of oregano and garlic, enhanced by hints of cinnamon and coffee, will transport you to a romantic era. Traditional Greek food as listed below will be served and sold at the festival.

Dolmades – Stuffed grape leaves

Gigandes – Giant baked beans

Gyro – Meat roasted on a vertical spit, typically served as a sandwich

Horiatiki – Traditional Greek salad

Keftedes – Meatballs cooked with herbs and onions

Moussaka – An eggplant dish flavored with spiced meat and béchamel

Paidakia – Grilled lamb chops

Rolo Kima – Traditional meatloaf stuffed with boiled eggs

Souvlaki – Small pieces of meat with or without vegetables on a skewer

Spanakopita – Spinach pie

Spanakorizo – Spinach and rice cooked in lemon and olive oil sauce

Taramasalata – A spread made from fish roe

Yemista – Tomatoes and peppers stuffed with rice

Festival Features

The Annapolis Greek Festival features a raffle with cash prizes, a children’s play area, shopping from local artisans and artists, and a tour of the church. Proceeds from the event benefit the Light House, a homeless shelter, and the Saints Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church. Admission is FREE.
