  Lodging in Annapolis , MDThe mission of the Annapolis Maritime Museum (AMM) is to educate visitors of all ages about the city’s maritime heritage and Chesapeake Bay’s ecology.  From its beautiful waterfront location overlooking the Chesapeake Bay, AMM’s educational program serves more than 5,000 students from the Annapolis region every year, promoting environmental awareness and stewardship of the area’s waters. Museum hours are from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday to Sunday.

The Homefront: Eastport during World War II—Walking Tour

Accessible on both Android and Apple devices, AMM’s digital 1.5 mile walking tour, The Homefront: Eastport during World War II, has 10 interesting stops. Powered by GPS technology, each location can be visited and viewed in the order you prefer. Every stop features informative narration and historic photos from the 1940s. Revolving around Eastport and World War II, the tour explores the naval depot that built Vosper PT boats, Pearl Harbor’s impact, women’s contribution to war industries, and how the global conflict affected people’s lives.

Two Specialty Tours

McNasbys – The Story of an Entrepreneur and his Family

The tour covers the story of how William McNasby and his family built and ran a successful oyster business, illustrating their prominent role in the American oyster industry. You will also hear the tales of their workers who labored and lived in the neighborhood of Eastport.

Introduction to Oysters in the Chesapeake Bay

Learn how oysters were harvested and processed at the McNasby Oyster Company, which was located in Eastport. The tour also covers reef ecology, regulations, internal anatomy and oyster shucking. Designed for oyster rookies, this tour is intended to provide an insightful overview of the oyster and the industry that depends upon it.

Admission for each of these AMM one-hour specialty tours is $8 per person. Both are recommended for group sizes of 12 to 15 people.
