Historic Inn, Hotel, AnnapolisTake a long weekend off in December with your loved one to visit Annapolis for touring historic landmarks during the day and holiday shopping at night. You probably already know that Maryland’s capital is home to the United States Naval Academy, but I doubt you know about Annapolis’ Midnight Madness & 11th Hour Holiday Shopping in its historic district.

Midnight Madness Areas

On the first three Thursday evenings of every December, the shops of Historic Annapolis welcome all visitors to a festive block party to celebrate the holiday season. Attendees will be entertained by street singers and musicians as they shop for presents. They can also enjoy food and refreshments along Main Street, State Circle/Maryland Avenue, and the Arts District in downtown Annapolis. Visit Annapolis describes these three areas below:

Main Street – “Historic downtown Annapolis is a vibrant, thriving 21st-century neighborhood with 18th-century charm. A walk down Main Street puts you in touch with four centuries of architecture lovingly preserved. There’s a contagious energy in the air here that some call addictive. Look in any direction and you’ll find something to pique your imagination – eye catchers including the Chesapeake Bay, Midshipmen in dress whites, historic landmarks, shops, and restaurants.”

State Circle/Maryland Avenue – “Nothing says Annapolis quite like State Circle & Maryland Avenue. Home to the Maryland State House (the oldest in continuous use in the United States) and connected to one of the state’s most historic streets, Maryland Avenue, you’ll find everything from dining to art, antiques, and museums.”

Arts District – “Looking for a little art while in town? Head to West Street – between Church Circle and the West in Annapolis Hotel – and experience Annapolis’ thriving Art District. Here, you’ll find dozens of restaurants, art galleries, and music venues offering everything from painting classes, fine art for sale, and annual events. Some of the locale’s favorite restaurants call the Arts District home.”
