historic Inn, hotel, Annapolis MDReturning for the 22nd year on Saturday, June 23, 2018, Eastport a Rockin’ will be giving Annapolis an earful once again. More than 35 home-grown bands will entertain on four stages on a single day. Concert proceeds will benefit the Annapolis Maritime Museum and local charities such as the Annapolis Musicians Fund for Musicians, Eastport Elementary School, and Eastport Volunteer Fire Department.

History

Founded in 1997 by James Borchelt, Eastport a Rockin’ (EAR) was meant to provide an exciting venue for introducing local musicians to a larger audience. Ever since, the festival has drawn an ever-growing crowd of music fans from Annapolis neighborhoods and surrounding areas. After 21 years, the concert has become the region’s top summer music festival. As a result of its growing popularity, EAR expanded in 2016 by adding a fourth stage at the Horn Point Marina, which gave more bands an opportunity to showcase their talent.

The Bands

As usual, new groups will be playing along with bands that have already made their mark. Over more than two decades, Eastport a Rockin’ has provided popular local musical groups such as Jimmie’s Chicken Shack and Good Charlotte their first shots. Emerging bands playing at EAR can end up being big stars in the future. What makes EAR especially amazing musically is the wide variety of musical styles that will be available, including rock n’ roll, blues, jazz, funk, bluegrass, roots, and folk. Band List
