Historic Inn, Lodging in AnnapolisThe magical and exotic tale of Aladdin has been re-imagined for dance by the Annapolis-based Ballet Theatre of Maryland (BTM). Visit Maryland’s seaside capital for a long weekend during February 2018 to enjoy this powerful adaptation of this immortal tale from Arabian Nights.

According to BTM, “Mystery, intrigue, dark desert nights, and magic all come together.” Rimsky Korsakov’s Scheherazade and Borodin’s Prince Igor will be the enchanting musical foundation of this Aladdin ballet. Find yourself engaged by the story you first knew as a child, following Aladdin and his Genie from the Lamp of Wonders as they battle the scheming and evil Wizard Jamal.

Ballet Theatre of Maryland

The Ballet Theatre of Maryland is the state’s premier professional ballet company, and they celebrate great classical dance, new and talented dancers, their rising stars, and numerous new classical and contemporary choreographic works. The current 2017-2018 season is their 39th in Annapolis.

Founded in November 1978, BTM was first known as The Ballet Theatre of Annapolis. Edward Stewart became its first Artistic Director in 1980, leading the company to professional status and serving until he passed away in 2002. To fulfill its new mission of serving the State of Maryland, the company was renamed Ballet Theatre of Maryland in 2000. At the beginning of the 2003-2004 season, Dianna Cuatto became the Artistic Director and has subsequently won many awards for her choreography.
