Lodgings in Annapolis Historic InnA beloved Annapolis tradition, the Eastport Yacht Club Lights Parade (EYCLP) will continue to bring holiday cheer to Annapolis in 2018. EYCLP was chosen by a USA Today poll in 2016 to be the best American holiday parade. Make sure to visit Maryland’s capital for see the annual Eastport Yacht Club Lights Parade on Saturday, December 8, 2018. The parade is an event for all ages, and your family will have fun during the festivities.

Festive Light Parade

Adorned with a multitude of colored lights, boats emerge from the darkness of Annapolis to dazzle holiday revelers during a brisk fall evening. Many spectators think the experience is magical because thousands of sparkling reflections dance on the dark water as the regatta, decorated with holiday characters and themes, approaches.

The vessels’ crew members wear matching costumes, and they participate with song and dance to heighten the festivities. Around 40 boats split into two squadrons while cruising two areas of Annapolis Harbor. The first sails next to the bridge and within the confines of Spa Creek, while the second sails by Eastport, the City Dock, and Naval Academy seawall.

Community Happening

Since debuting in 1988, EYCLP has brought Annapolitans and visitors closer to each other during the holidays. Hosted by the Eastport Yacht Club, their volunteers donate many hours decorating the best viewing locations and parade boats with intricate lighting arrangements. Kids from Annapolis elementary schools also create art to decorate parade locations, and the best are awarded prizes.
