blog-gibsons-lodgingThe Maryland Seafood Festival (MSF) will be holding its 49th annual edition Saturday, September 10 and Sunday, September 11. The motto is “Savor the Bay”, and the event will be held at Sandy Point State Park, which is located at the western end of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge in Annapolis, Maryland.

The festival will feature scrumptious seafood, cooking competitions and demonstrations, music performances, children’s activities, shopping, local vendors, exhibits, and contests. All of the above will be held on the scenic seashore of the Chesapeake Bay.

Crab Soup Cook-off

The most prestigious competition is the 2016 Crab Soup Cook-off held on September 10. The 2015 Maryland Seafood Festival had 18 crab soup entries, and 2016 will bring another delicious contest for taste buds. The best Maryland crab soup chefs will vie for two awards. The following quotes the MSF:

“People’s Choice Award: Attendees of the Crab Soup Cook-Off vote for their favorite cream of crab, vegetable crab, and alternative crab soup during the event. The tent is open to the public for $10 admission per person. Once ballots for the “People’s Choice” division are tallied, the top three soups from each category are presented with plaques and the right to promote their soup as a 2016 Crab Soup Cook-Off Winner.”

“Judges’ Choice Award: A panel of culinary experts will taste and rate the soups in all categories in a blind taste test. After the tallying is complete, the top three soups in each category receive awards. Winners and photos appear in The Capital.”
