hotel, lodgings in AnnapolisThe ghosts of Annapolis have had a chance to hibernate during the winter. The coming of spring will wake the spirits of Maryland’s capital, and so Watermark’s Historic Ghost Walk will frighten downtown once more in April 2018.

Annapolis Tours by Watermark describe their services as “the authentic provider of guided historic walking tours in Annapolis, Maryland.” Their authenticity comes from their very knowledgeable guides who are dressed in Colonial period garb. Their stories of American and Annapolis past help keep history alive. They provide insights regarding the city’s intriguing past as well as entertaining folk tales to visitors of all ages. Providing several tours of Maryland’s capital, Watermark considers the Historic Ghost Walk as their most unique.

Ghosts of the City’s Past

As the sun sets, fog sometimes crawls in from the Chesapeake. Wielding candlelit lamps, a Colonial guide will accompany you on a riveting excursion filled with tales of tortured spirits haunting the city’s 18th century buildings. The stories of watermen lost at sea, men who mysteriously fell and met their maker, and society women haunting their mansions will be told.

Other scary moments will include learning about the echoes of mysterious footsteps, headless horsemen riding past, a gravedigger who never ceases toiling, and unlucky prisoners taken to the gallows. Perhaps the most terrifying is witnessing the apparition of Arianna Jenning materializing beneath her own portrait in the Little Brice House only moments after she died in England. This Annapolis ghost tour is a bit creepy, but enjoyable for guests of all ages.
