Boating, sailing, and cruising are an important part of the Annapolis lifestyle.

A few other popular ways to enjoy the beautiful Chesapeake Bay and surrounding waters is kayaking and canoeing. You’re right next to the water, exercising,  and relaxing in nature.

Here are a few of Annapolis’ favorite places to enjoy the water.

Truxtun Park is ideal for kayaking, canoeing, hiking, and taking off on your motor-powered boat. The boat ramp is open all year from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. There is a $5 fee to use the ramp; however, for your convenience and savings, there are annual passes available. Truxtun Park also provides a floating dock to making it easier to board your kayak or canoe. The park is located on Hilltop Lane in Annapolis.

Quiet Waters Park  is one of the most beautiful parks in the area. There is an art gallery, a space for weddings, and tons of small boating vessels to rent, which is required to use this waterway. Quiet Waters offers kayaks, canoes, row boats, pedal boats, rowing shells, sailboats, and stand up paddleboards. The park is open every day except for Tuesday. The last rental is at 5 p.m. The entrance fee is $6 per vehicle.

Ferry Point Marina in Arnold, Maryland features The Point Crab House and Grill is located at the Ferry Point Marina. The marina is located about ten minutes from Annapolis, on the scenic and calm Magothy River. Since part of the river is surrounded by trees, it’s safe from wind and boat wake. There is kayak and dinghy storage available on site or you could cart your own around.  There are no rentals available here. Paddle around the waters for free.

Ellen Moyer Nature Park on Back Creek 7314 Edgewood Road, offers great kayaking and canoeing opportunities.  The “July 4th Paddle” is a favorite tradition from 8 a.m. to noon. You can hop aboard a sailboat, kayak, canoe, or stand up paddleboard for $4 per hour.

Aside from this Independence Day paddle, you or your entire family can sign up for a membership at the park to paddle every week of the year. For membership to paddle in this park every week, the fee is $175 for individuals and $265 for families.  There are many other benefits to your membership. Check with the park for more details.
