Starting with downtown Annapolis, a fun spot to see for sure is Ego Alley, where City Dock meets the water’s edge and boat owners show off their prized toys. If you are more interested in National Historic Landmarks, offshore is the beautiful and unique Thomas Point Shoal Lighthouse. Arundel Mills Mall & Casino
Arundel Mills Mall is the largest retail mall in Maryland, and it contains several factory stores of popular brands. Inside as well is the Arundel Mills’ Maryland Live! Casino. Considered world-class, it features a 500-seat live-entertainment venue, the Rams Head Center Stage. For a unique evening, go to the Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament for jousting and feasting. You can also catch a movie at state-of the-art theaters, Cinemark Egyptian 24 and XD Movies.
Boating & Cruises
Having more than four hundred miles of shoreline, Annapolis’ waterways include the Chesapeake Bay and four rivers. Sailing, boating, and taking a cruise on a tour boat are all available. If you are an angler, you can charter a fishing boat to catch a trophy. If you are into exercise, you can kayak, canoe, or stand-up paddle board instead. For those who want to make a quick hop to another side of Annapolis, a Water Taxi is available.
Only a few miles from downtown, the Annapolis countryside offers pastoral beauty of farmland where horses graze after a few minutes drive. For America’s colonial past, Historic London Town and Gardens will reveal the “lost” colonial town of London and share a garden sanctuary located on the South River.
Perhaps the best way to get to know locals is attending one of their festivals. Look out for the St. Patrick’s Parade and Hooley in March. The Annapolis Film Festival will run from for four days from March to April. Starting in May, the First Sunday Arts Festival is held in Annapolis every first Sunday of the month through October. May 9 will be the annual Annapolis Sock Burning Festival.
